Last round Monaco recorded a fifth consecutive win and clean sheet (won 2-0 at Guingamp). Monaco started in force and after half hour they could have been 3-0 up. A couple of fast paced actions initiated by Rodriguez destabilized Guingamp’s defense and forced fullback Perreira in getting a red card.
Attacking midfielder Rodriguez is in excellent form. Only now he truly adapted at Monaco. Also keep in mind that forward Falcao never really had the chance to play with Rodriguez in top form at Monaco. Falcao was injured for the last couple of rounds but he should be available for Friday’s game according to latest reports.
With confidence and creativity running high for Rodriguez and with Falcao back in the lineup, Monaco can destroy most teams in France (actually all teams except PSG)
Defensively Monaco are rock solid. They haven’t conceded in 5 rounds and judging by the next opponents they should make it 6 clean sheets in a row…
Valenciennes continue to play with a converted defensive midfielder on one wing and a fullback on the other wing.
Last round away at Bordeaux they were more offensive than usual, as both central midfielders, Doumbia and Enza-Yamissi, got more involved in the attacking phase. Doumbia even scored and Enza-Yamissi was pretty close also, but he somehow missed a penalty.
With both of them being more focused in creating and pushing the game forward, Valenciennes was very exposed at the back. Only Bordeaux’s lack of efficiency upfront helped Valenciennes concede just 2. But it will be an entire different story against Monaco…
Israeli attacking midfielder Melikson will return after being suspended last round. Otherwise there should be no chances in Valenciennes’ squad.
With Falcao back and Rodriguez on his way to become a football God, Monaco should be able to put a few past Valenciennes and keep a clean sheet in the same time. The odds of 2.00 for Monaco -1.5 surely won’t last for long, so hurry up and place your bet.
