Monaco seemed a bit rusty in the French Super Cup last week against PSG (lost 2-1). Central defenders Glik and Jemerson are very powerful players, but they were a bit slow last week and a step behind opponents. Maybe it takes a while for Monaco to get started, just like it happened last season, when they found some rhythm after about 10 rounds.
Newly arrived fullback Kongolo was very active but not that confident. He came from Feyenoord and most probably it will take a while to adapt to Monaco’s playing style. Midfielder Tielemans already delivered an assist and this promises to be one of the most interesting seasons in his career (one of the most productive as well).
Toulouse lost a couple of important players this summer: forward Braithwaite, midfielders Akpa – Akpro, Doumbia and Trejo. Forward Braithwaite and attacking midfielder Trejo are by far the biggest losses, as they have been key players in previous seasons.
Luckily for Toulouse they have other valuable attacking players. Forward Delort will start upfront from now on, while Jean, Durmaz and Machach should play behind him. That formula looks very good as Delort has killer instincts, while the other 3 excel in speed and ball control.
Toulouse will miss forward Toivonen due to suspension.
Monaco should be the ones controlling this game, but at the moment their defense looks very vulnerable. Toulouse have a good chance to start the season on the right foot. TOULOUSE +1.5 at 2.02
