MONACO REIMS PREVIEW BY LGF

MONACO

Very balanced game between Monaco and Caen last round and the final result was fully justified (finished 2-2). Monaco were surprisingly vulnerable in defense, especially considering Caen were without topscorer Delort.

In the attacking phase Monaco seemed a bit rigid, but with players like Moutinho, Bernardo Silva and Traore they can always create chances out of thin air. They afford to keep experienced and talented striker Vagner Love only on the bench, and that surely says something about their offensive potential.

Monaco may welcome back fullback Coentrao after injury.

REIMS

Reims deserved more last round away at Lille, but instead of equalizing in the dying moments, Reims conceded another goal and left home empty handed (lost 2-0).

Wingers once again did their job and created real scoring opportunities, but unfortunately forwards failed to apply the finishing touch in-front of an organized and solid opponent.

Forwards Bifouma and De Preville were very active, just like in previous rounds, and even if they couldn’t find the net, they appeared to be good form and confidence.

Bad news for Reims as defensive midfielder Devaux got a red card and will miss this round. Veteran Devaux is extremely important for the defensive phase and will surely be missed.

BETTING

The chances for Monaco to lose the Champions League position are about the same as the chances for Reims to relegate, so motivation should be at the same level. Monaco never impressed with their playing style, but they can be very efficient and easily corner most opponents. This could be a very entertaining encounter, especially since Reims are in a good offensive mood. OVER 2.5 GOALS at 2.08

UPDATE: Monaco’s fullback Coenteao will once again miss due to injury, but they welcome back winger Cavaleiro. Reims welcome back forward Bangoura after injury.
