It took them a while but now Monaco are finally where they belong, in the 2nd place in Ligue1. Keeping a clean sheet was by far Monaco’s biggest problem in the first part of the season, and since they haven’t transferred-in any player, Monaco will continue to struggle defensively.
Most probably keeper Subasic will miss once again through injury, same as fullbacks Coentrao and Echiejile.
Offensively Monaco weren’t very impressive in the first part of the season, but thanks to players like Moutinho, Dirar, Silva, Carillo, and El Sharaawy, they can always score out of nothing when opponents least expect it.
There is nothing official at the moment but there are rumors that forward El Sharaawy wants to transfer out.
Forward Traore got a red card in the Cup game against amateurs Saint Jean Beaulieu and will sit out against Gazelec Ajaccio. Although Monaco trashed their opponents, they couldn’t keep a clean sheet even when playing against amateurs (Monaco won 10-2).
Leaving aside Champions PSG, Gazelec Ajaccio was maybe the most in-form Ligue1 team in December. They were very courageous, won a total of 8 points in 4 rounds, against solid opponents and looked more determined the ever.
They were very shy at the beginning of the season, but pretty soon they realized the only way to survive in Ligue1 is to score goals.
Playmaker Larbi is Ajaccio’s most important player, and thanks to the fast actions carried with forwards Zoua and Tshibumbu, Ajaccio can score against most Ligue1 sides, and so they did in the last 9 rounds.
This should be an entertaining encounter with Monaco in charge, but always in danger due to the loose defense. Over 2.25 goals at 1.95
