Monaco Bastia Preview

MONACO

Really disappointing display from Monaco last week away at Angers (lost 3-0). They looked totally different in comparison to two rounds ago when they destroyed Toulouse 4-0.

It is not like Monaco dominated and Angers scored all goals on counters. No, Angers were in charge from the beginning and Monaco could barely create a couple of real chances.

Striker Vagner Love made his first appearance for Monaco, but couldn’t achieve much since he played only for about 30 minutes and teammates had already lost hope.

Not much time for injured players to recover, so most probably Monaco will once again be without Bahlouli, Lemar, Traore, Toulalan, Cavaleiro, Echiejile and Toure.

BASTIA

Excellent game from Bastia last round against Lyon (won 1-0). They missed a couple of important players (Modesto, Ayite, Cahuzac) but still managed to confidently close ranks and be dangerous on counters.

Striker Brandao surprisingly managed to score his third goal of the season and hopefully picked up some much needed form.

Bastia will once again have 4 suspended players, but like we saw last round that shouldn’t be an impediment for getting a positive result. They will be without winger Ayite, midfielders Cahuzac and Fofana and defender Cioni. On the other hand they will welcome back defender Modesto.

BETTING

Believe it or not the game against Toulouse two rounds ago was the first home game in which Monaco won with a comfortable advantage (at least 2 goals). Usually they lack creativity in opponents’ half and struggle to find their way inside the penalty box. This round shouldn’t be any different, especially seeing that Bastia are in good form. Bastia +1 at 2.10
