METZ

Metz were very unfortunate last week away at Angers. They got a red card in the first half, they became even more aggressive afterwards, and another red card followed in second half.

Since they played for about half an hour in 9, it was impossible for Metz to get a positive result (Angers won 2-1).

In-spite the defeat last round, Metz are looking better in comparison to the first part of the season. They are more efficient in the attacking phase with the arrival of striker Diabate, and more confident in midfield.

Still, chemistry is still at low levels, and at the moment this seems to be Metz’ biggest problem.

Hosts welcome back fullback Assou-Ekoto and midfielders Jouffre and Sarr.

MARSEILLE

Marseille destroyed Montpellier last round. They won 5-1, but it was all because of individual talent. Marseille is not functioning as a team yet, as most players seem interested in continuing actions on their own, rather than encouraging collective play. Still, that seems to work for Marseille, especially if we look at the scoreline last round.

After fullback Evra, Marseille transferred-in another French international, attacking midfielder Payet (played for Marseille in the past as well). He is a highly skilled and experienced player, and will certainly add value to Marseille’s attacking phase. He already featured in the midweek Cup game against Lyon (Marseille won 2-1 in extra time)

In defense Marseille can easily be surprised, and it seems that no matter how many they score, they also concede at least once.

Hosts will miss newly arrived fullback Evra who already got injured. On the other hand important fullback Bedimo recovered from injury and is available. Newly transferred midfielder Sertic is also in the squad for the first time.

BETTING

Neither side is impressive when it comes to building up play (no triangles, no fast and short passes). But they do seem able to reach opponents’ penalty box when nobody expects it, and convert their chances with ease. over 2.5 goals at 1.90
