Metz – Lens Preview

Metz were lucky to have had their game against PSG postponed last round due to PSG’s busy schedule. Now their confidence is at maximum levels after the glimpse of hope that appeared when they won against Toulouse two rounds ago (won 3-2).

A game against PSG most probably would have ruined Metz’s hopes and would have awakened them to reality.

The chances for Metz to escape relegation are only on paper but still enthusiasm and confidence are at high levels. The victory over Toulouse was actually Metz’s first win after the winter break and this explains the increased optimism.

Forward Maiga scored a hat-trick and most probably he feels like a Golden Boot nominee in this moment. Not only Maiga, but all players have increased faith in their own forces after their first Ligue1 win in 2015.

Hosts will have to do without injured fullback Rivierez.

Lens’ story is a sad one as they had performed decently so far but failed to get positive results and ended up in the bottom of the table.

Lens reach opponents’ penalty box with ease but they get lost when trying to apply the finishing touch. The constant rotation in the offensive department prevented chemistry from developing and forwards had reduced confidence levels the entire season.

The defense is at an average level and can’t resist to constant pressure and also can be easily surprised on counters.

Even if Lens performed more convincingly recently the momentum definitely belongs to Metz who must feel like Champions League finalists after scoring 3 goals in a single game and winning the first Ligue1 encounter of the year. There is a good chance that points will be evenly split at the end of a balanced encounter.
