MARSEILLE ST ETIENNE PREVIEW BY LGF

MARSEILLE

Marseille have incredible talent on absolutely all positions, but they still struggle to win points.

Last round Marseille imposed the rhythm with ease, but unfortunately failed completely when trying to apply the finishing touch. Midfielders did their job (more or less) and delivered many key passes, but unfortunately Batshuayi couldn’t find the net. His performances in 2016 are kind of a let down, and it’s only a matter of time until newly arrived Fletcher will permanently take Batshuayi’s place in the lineup.

Marseille have problems in Ligue1 against mediocre French sides, so it was expected for them to struggle in Europa League against Bilbao (lost 1-0). They missed midfielder Cabella who was suspended and the creativity level diminished considerably.

Cabella will return this round, but Marseille may once again miss fullback Dja Djedje

ST ETIENNE

St Etienne just proved they are in excellent form by defeating experienced side Basel in Europa League (won 3-2).

It was a balanced encounter, but St Etienne were very confident and managed to make the most of their chances. They missed striker Soderlund who wasn’t qualified to play, but he will return to action this round.

Finally St Etienne welcomed back winger Hamouma after a long injury. Hamouma is a key player and his presence will definitely be a major boost.

BETTING

Marseille have incredible potential but unfortunately they aren’t able to achieve it. They struggle in every game, regardless the opponent. St Etienne are in excellent form and confidence, and with Hamouma back in the lineup, the positive results should continue. ST ETIENNE +0.5 at 2.00
