MARSEILLE RENNES PREVIEW BY LGF

MARSEILLE

Last round Marseille recorded their 5th consecutive Ligue1 draw (1-1 away at Lorient).

Marseille is by far the most underperforming Ligue1 side, with many skilled players both in the lineup and on the bench, but unable to make the difference in the field and always struggling regardless the opponent.

Keeper Mandanda is in excellent form and made some incredible saves lately. He is one of the main reasons why Marseille have been able to win 5 points in the last 5 rounds…

They dominate in terms of possession, but aren’t very inventive and don’t create many real scoring opportunities.

Defenders Rekik and Mendy and winger Cabella suffered injuries last round and are doubtful.

RENNES

Rennes were pretty lucky to get a point last week against Lyon. With 20 minutes to go Rennes were 2-0 down, the game was calm and nothing suggested a dramatic ending. But Rennes have very fast and skilled attacking players, and don’t need prolonged possession in order to create important chances (finished 2-2).

Key winger Ntep is still injured, but young Dembele is in excellent form and really enjoys being the center of attention now that Ntep is out.

They also have Boga and Grosicki, fast players with great ball control and shooting power, players that can win points on their own when nobody expects it.

Guests will welcome back forward Sio after suspension.

BETTING

Odds on Marseille are a bit surprising considering how they have been performing lately. Marseille can fully dominate opponents in midfield, but they aren’t able to make the difference on the scoreboard. This can be the perfect opportunity for Rennes to pick up points, seeing they are perfectly suited for counter attacking tactics. RENNES +0.5 at 2.00
