Marseille Reims Preview

marseille reims preview

Marseille started in a 4-4-2 formula last round away at Angers. They weren’t exactly impressive, but looked more compact and efficient in comparison to previous rounds.

Since Romao and Diaby were unavailable, Barrada and young Zambo Anguissa started in central midfield. They were surprisingly confident and successfully managed to create the first line of defense. Most probably Marseille will use the same lineup this round, since there are no updates on injuries.

The season is over for Marseille, and all they can do now is try to make amends for the disastrous results, and pick up form for the Coupe de France final against PSG.

Reims’ new coach Guion isn’t any better than the previous one. Reims started in a very defensive formula last round, with 3 central midfielders, two of whom barely played this season.

The chances for Reims to avoid relegation are really slim, given the way they perform, and the difficult games ahead (against Marseille and Lyon). At least from the 18th position they won’t relegate directly, and instead will play a playoff against 3rd place from Ligue2, but they will have to double their efforts in order to remain on that position.

Coach Guion will have to embrace a more offensive system, as otherwise Reims risk losing the chance for another season in Ligue1.

Guests will once again miss defender Traore who is injured.

Reims seemed clueless recently, and since coach Guion lacks experience, most probably there won’t be any improvement. Marseille are still underperforming, but increased rythm recently and can always make the difference thanks to individual talent. MARSEILLE -0.5 at 1.90
