Last round was the first time this season when Marseille finally put together two consecutive Ligue1 victories. They won away at Nantes after a balanced game in which they successfully exploited the sole mistake opponents made (won 1-0).
Young winger N’Koudou scored again, this time in Europa League (won 1-0 vs Braga), and he will definitely be a starter for many rounds to come.
Midfielders Diarra and Alessandrini missed the Europa League game due to injuries and most probably will sit out against Nice as well (Diarra will miss for sure as he is suspended). They will be joined on the sidelines by defender N’Koulou and midfielder Cabella who are both suspended.
Diarra and N’Koulou are really important for the defensive phase and Marseille may suffer against one of the most prolific attacks in the tournament. Winger Alessandrini is also an important player but coach Michel has valuable alternatives in the attacking department.
The huge spaces in defense prevented Nice from winning any points last round (lost 2-1 against Nantes). It is true that attacking players aren’t that inspired anymore but maybe they are simply tired watching defenders under-perform.
The clean sheet against Lille two rounds ago was a false alarm as Nice’s defenders are still slow and easily outplayed.
Upfront Nice aren’t as effective as they used to be (they scored following a set piece last round), but it should be only a matter of time until Ben Arfa and company regain confidence.
Nice welcome back defender Le Marchand after suspension but Koziello will once again sit out.
Marseille are pretty pushy in home games, and with just one exception they always scored in-front of own fans. Things shouldn’t be any different against Nice who struggle defensively. On the other hand Nice can score against any Ligue1 side, especially when the defense is not complete. over 2.75 goals at 2.04
UPDATE: Marseille will have to do without Cabella, N’Koulou, Diarra, Alessandrini and Dja Djedje. Nice will welcome back Koziello from suspension who was forgiven by the discipline Commission.
