Marseille suffered a harsh defeat in the midweek away at Lille. Especially in the 2nd half Marseille were clearly better but the extraordinary form of Lille’s keeper Enyeama prevented them from scoring.
When everyone thought the game is ended Lille scored after a quick counter leaving Marseille pointless.
Offensive midfielder Valbuena also got injured and will miss for a few weeks. Undoubtedly many will consider Valbuena’s absence vital, but in reality he is only slowing down Marseille’s game.
His passes are either for teammates behind him or on the same line. He never really pushes the game forward despite being a pure offensive minded midfielder.
So replacing Valbuena with Imbula (a bit defensive minded) won’t really have any effect on the team, as Imbula has the same passing style.
I am convinced Marseille will start in force trying to take revenge for the unjust loss suffered at Lille.
Nantes dominated last round against Valenciennes but were extremely lucky to win. Upfront they rely solely on striker Djordjevic who’s got other things on his mind.
For a couple of rounds already he started losing form and even missed a penalty last round. And whenever Djordjevic doesn’t score Nantes suffer as they do not have other valuable striker.
In fact against Valenciennes they scored through a deflected long distance shot (a lucky shot) and after a corner.
Marseille’s defense is top class lately with both central defenders N’Koulou and Diawara performing extraordinary. With Djordjevic out-of-form Nantes won’t be able to pose any danger upfront.
This game should be one sided with Marseille cornering Nantes from the start. At 2.00 the odds on Marseille are really huge and may keep on growing as many punters are afraid of Valbuena’s absence.
