Marseille Montpellier Preview

marseille montpellier preview

Although at first the game appeared to be balanced, in the end Marseille was definitely the better side and fully deserved to take all points (won 1-0 at Rennes last round).

Forward Cabella finally scored his first goal since transferring in at Marseille. This was by far his best game since arriving at Marseille as he was extremely active, had a couple of attempts on target and also delivered many key passes.

Cabella is a really talented player and can be an asset for all Ligue1 sides (with the exception of PSG maybe), but was very shy at Marseille and couldn’t find his place on the field. With Cabella performing at full potential, right next to Alessandrini and N’Koudou, Marseille will have one of the fiercest attacking departments in Ligue1.

Marseille may be without midfielders Alessandrini and Diarra who are doubtful.

Montpellier dominated last round against Gazelec Ajaccio but couldn’t break a highly organized defense (lost 2-0).

Midfielder Sanson returned after a long injury, played for about one hour, but was less than average and definitely needs some time to pick up form and confidence.

They made decent efforts upfront but there was still something missing. Montpellier are definitely looking better in comparison to the beginning of the season, but there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Guests will welcome back fullback Bansebaini after suspension

Even if Marseille will miss midfielder Alessandrini, with Batshuayi, N’Koudou and Cabella in form, it will be enough to score against Montpellier who have a mediocre defense. Marseille – 1 at 2.16
Cabella may be extra motivated against his former team. Seeing he found the net last round and was very active Cabella to score at 3.50 looks really tasty.

UPDATE: Marseille’s winger Alessandrini will sit out but midfielder Diarra is ready for action
