Marseille simply destroyed Toulouse last round (won 6-1) but the huge score was not exactly surprising, but instead it was surprising to see Marseille conceding only once…
Opponent have reduced firepower and maybe this is why they couldn’t take advantage of Marseille’s defensive absences. Fullback Djadjedje and central defender Fanni fulfilled their suspensions and will return this round.
The only problem is Marseille have been conceding 2 goals per game with those two in the lineup and why would things change against the most prolific Ligue1 side?
From an offensive point of view Marseille are topping the table (alongside Lyon…) with young forward Batshuayi in great form and slowly turning into a world class top-scorer. Few would have thought that striker Gignac would be only a bench warmer because of a 21 years old inexperienced striker but that is exactly what happened and things couldn’t look any better upfront.
Lyon are also coming after a fun training session last round away at Montpellier (won 5-1). Lacazette and Fekir were once again best players and both scored twice. Midfielder Gourcuff delivered 2 assists but he suffered an injury and will sit out. Gourcuff is maybe the most fragile player in the world as he gets injured once or twice per month. His time at Lyon has mostly been spent on the sidelines and fans and even president Aulas are getting tired of this situation.
At Lyon the defensive phase is not that solid with lateral midfielders Tolisso and Ferri being very advanced.
Football lovers worldwide shouldn’t miss this game as it promises to be one of the most entertaining Ligue1 games in the entire season. 90 minutes full of action without a single moment of boredom. Over 2.75 goals at 2.11
