It finally happened, coach Baup is out. For Marseille the problems began long time ago (more than 2 months), when key players started to drop form all of a sudden.
Baup did nothing to redress the situation (he actually encouraged it) but officials at the club kept on releasing statements supporting him 100%. When fans couldn’t take it anymore Baup was sacked. Elie Baup surely has more substantial offers on his table (180.000 euro per year for coaching the Moroccan national team) and being sacked will most probably fill his bank account with a nice settlement from Marseille, so he achieved his goal…
Taking over until the winter break will be sporting director Jose Anigo. His first game couldn’t come at a worse time. There’s no motivation for Champions League anymore since the European adventure is over for Marseille.
Creative players Valbuena and Ayew are out injured, while defensive pillars N’Koulou and Romao are suspended. Defensive midfielder Romao and central defender N’Koulou were the best players for Marseille in the last month, when they prevented the team from getting hammered…
N’Koulou should be replaced by Lucas Mendes who just returned after a long injury and is out-of-form, while Romao should be substituted by young Imbula whose level is clearly inferior.
Marseille will struggle both in the offensive phase and the defensive one. The advantage is definitely for Dortmund who should be fired up in order to assure qualification and find some rhythm (after losing last round in Bundesliga).
Bad luck for coach Anigo to face Dortmund in his first game and without so many key players. Dortmund -1 at the odds of 1.73 should pay without much emotions.
