Marseille – Bastia Preview

MARSEILLE

Just like last season Marseille go from one extreme to the other without any kind of warning. After destroying Troyes 6-0 two rounds ago Marseille couldn’t find the net against Guingamp and ended up losing 2-0.

They had the exact same approach as two rounds ago against Troyes but unfortunately the offensive players weren’t pragmatic and somehow managed to miss all chances.

Newly arrived Cabella played his first game for Marseille but he was very shy and isolated for most the time.

I’ve never seen a striker waste so many chances as Batshuayi. His performances illustrate perfectly Marseille’s game, one week he scores from impossible positions and the other week he misses one on one with the keeper.

It seems this season Diarra and Lemina will partner in central midfield and Romao will be only on the bench. Both of them should focus primarily on the defensive phase but they are slow and will have problems in stopping fast paced actions.

BASTIA

Only because of the referee Bastia returned empty handed from their trip to St Etienne last round (lost 2-1). Bastia played for 70 minutes in 10 and for 15 minutes in 9…

It was an exhausting game but Bastia still managed to create many problems for St Etienne and even scored a goal.

This round Bastia will have to do without fullback Djiku and winger Kamano, both of them suspended. On the other hand newly arrived midfielder Mostefa is available and most probably will start in the lineup.

Bastia don’t have any major talent in their ranks but they are highly organized and capable of outnumbering the opponent in all areas of the field.

BETTING

Bastia were pretty impressive so far since the season started and considering that only red cards could stop their good run it’s not such a good idea to bet against them, especially with Marseille being so unpredictable.

UPDATE: It seems it’s still too early for Marseille’s new players Isla and Rolando to play their first game and they were left outside the squad. Bastia will have to do without keeper Leca and newly arrived midfielder Mostefa.

Marseille: S.Mandanda, Y.Pelé – Manquillo, Nkoulou, Sparagna, Rekik, Ben.Mendy, De Ceglie – Lucas Silva, L.Diarra, Alessandrini, Romao, Cabella, Nkoudou, B.Sarr, Barrada, Zambo Anguissa – Ocampos, Batshuayi
