Marseille made an incredible game last round away at Lille (won 4-0). The game was not totally one sided as the scoreline suggests but Marseille were extremely efficient and converted all their major chances.
There were only a couple of rounds in the entire season in which Marseille defensively looked as solid as last week. To sum it up they were Champions League material, but unfortunately this change in attitude and performance may have arrived a bit too late in the season.
Besides winning this game Marseille also depend on other result and need Lorient to get at least a draw in-front of Monaco.
Hosts will be without fullback Mendy and defensive midfielder Romao. These are not exactly reasons to worry as Marseille have skilled substitutes.
Bastia didn’t push that hard last week against Caen and seemed happy with splitting points (finished 1-1). There are no reasons for Bastia to make extra efforts especially since it’s been a long season and players barely lift their legs nowadays.
Although they are sitting on 10 points from the last 4 rounds Bastia have had disappointing performances and at times were very lucky not to lose at a big margin (2 rounds ago against Rennes for example when Bastia won 1-0).
Guests will welcome back winger Kamano after suspension but will miss defensive midfielder Cahuzac (suspended).
This should be a one sided encounter with Marseille having a healthy lead when the final whistle approaches and waiting only for the result from Lorient – Monaco. Marseille -2 at 2.14
