Lyon – Sochaux Preview

In the first part of the season Lyon were plagued by injuries. As a result they lost many points and only managed to finish exactly in the middle of the table after half a season.

But the truth is Lyon still have a word to say in Ligue1, and especially when all important players are available Lyon’s word is quite powerful…

The Cup game at minnows La Suze proved to be only a light training session for Lyon (won 6-1). The playing appetite is at high levels, same as the confidence.

Only Ghezzal and Dabo are out injured but they wouldn’t have been starters anyway.

Jordan Ayew, the player who carries a big blame for coach Baup being sacked from Marseille, was loaned at Sochaux and is regarded as a savior… Besides being Andre Ayew’s little brother it is a mystery why would anyone place Jordan in the 1st eleven…

Besides talentless Jordan Ayew, Sochaux transferred in 2 Zambians, defender Sunzu and midfielder Sinkala. It is not clear yet if they will be able to play against Lyon but to be honest I don’t think it will make any difference… Coach Renard (he used to coach Zambian national team) asked for those 2 to be transferred in, disregarding the fact that in Ligue1 they play against opponents like PSG, Monaco, Lille or Marseille and not against Tanzania, Sudan, Burundi or Somalia…

Renard only got to coach a couple of rounds at Sochaux but we already have proof of his lack of vision. Constantly switching the system from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 to 4-5-1 only disorientates players and stops them from achieving full potential.

Renard was a sad choice for coach and Sochaux will realize that next season when they’ll be seeing Ligue1 only at TV…

Lyon -1 (with money back if they win just by 1 goal) at the odds of 1.73 is both a valuable and a safe bet. Medium to high confidence.
