Lyon Caen Preview

lyon caen preview

Convincing win from Lyon in the first round away at Nancy (Lyon won 3-0). Striker Lacazette scored a hat trick, and Lyon will be really lucky to keep him until the transfer window closes.

In spite the huge difference on the scoreboard, Lyon weren’t very pushy, and with the exception of a few through balls, they haven’t created much. But they compensated by always being in alert and taking advantage of every single mistake opponents made.

They looked a bit vulnerable in central midfield, where players failed to anticipate long balls that could have easily become dangerous. This situation generated a few problems for defenders Yanga – Mbiwa and Nkoulou, but they successfully rejected all incoming actions and their partnership looks really promising.

Forward Ghezzal missed the first round, and there are more and more rumors linking him to Premier League.

Impressive comeback from Caen in the first round against Lorient (won 3-2). Unfortunately the real difference was made by a red card that Lorient received early in the game (26th minute), when they were already 2-0 up.

Caen looked extremely weak when trying to defend on the flanks. Fullbacks Imorou and Dabo were often outplayed, and opponents managed to get inside the penalty box with ease.

This will be a major setback against Lyon who can be extremely fast and precise.

Newly arrived striker Santini was very active, scored twice and provoked the red card that changed the fate of the game. He is powerful player, and scoring twice on his debut surely boosted the confidence level.

Even if their opponents last round didn’t had too much firepower, Lyon looked surprisingly solid in defense. It may be more difficult now, with Caen’s forward Santini in top confidence, but Lyon can easily outscore any team that has problems in defending the flanks. LYON -1.25 at 2.02
