LORIENT PSG PREVIEW
November 19 2015 9:50 AM
It may not seem this way at the moment but with a bit of luck Lorient could easily fight for a place in Europe this season.
The major strength is by far the offensive department with forwards Waris and Moukandjo applying the finishing touch after agile wingers set up the play.
The thing is Lorient have no depth and they will have to avoid injuries in order to continue with the positive results. Take the defensive phase for example, as soon as central defender Lautoa suffered an injury Lorient started conceding goals from all positions. Replacement Kone is a decent player but far from Lautoa’s value. The same goes for most of the squad.
Hosts will once again have to do without forward Waris who is suspended, but may welcome back defender Lautoa who resumed collective training this week.
13 round into the season and PSG already have a solid 10 points advantage over second placed Lyon. Sooner or later they will get bored with this situation and will reduce rythm, especially when important Champions League games will be just around the corner.
Everybody is shaken by the tragic events in Paris last week but for PSG’s players it may be even more haunting since it happened near their homes.
As most of you probably realized by now when analyzing PSG it is mostly about their determination and morale as their value is indisputable. Injuries and suspensions have no effect on them and they have no real rival in Ligue1. Pretty soon this will become a problem for Ligue1 officials who used to take pride in their balanced competition and gave worldwide lectures on the benefits of a close tournament.
PSG may welcome back defender Marquinhos after injury.
If forward Waris would have been available and defender Lautoa not fresh after injury, a bet on Lorient may have been appealing, but not in current circumstances.
UPDATE: Lorient welcome back defender Lautoa but will miss Abdullah who suffered an injury. PSG will have to do without Pastore, Di Maria, Lavezzi, Verratti and David Luiz.
Lorient: Lecomte, Chaigneau – Gassama, L.Koné, Paye, Z.Touré, Guerreiro, Le Goff, Lautoa – Philippoteaux, Jouffre, Ndong, Bellugou, Bouanga, Mulumba, Barthelmé – Moukandjo, Jeannot, Gakpa
PSG: Sirigu, Trapp – Aurier, Kurzawa, Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Maxwell, Thiago Silva, Van der Wiel – Matuidi, Rabiot, Stambouli, Thiago Motta – Augustin, Cavani, Ibrahimovic, Lucas, Ongenda
