Lorient were clearly outplayed last week away at Lille, and the final scoreline is fully by justified teams’ performances (Lille won 3-0).
It seems that lately Lorient reduced efforts, but the reality is they have been a bit unlucky because of injuries and suspensions. Key forward Waris missed for a couple of rounds due to suspension and the offensive potential diminished considerably.
Top scorer Moukandjo clearly lost form while Waris was out and could score only from penalty. Waris returned in the midweek Cup game against Dijon, played for 90 minutes and was extremely active (Lorient won 3-0).
It seems that central defender Lautoa will miss once again, same as winger Barthelme and fullback Gassama.
Nantes dominated last week against Toulouse but couldn’t get more than a draw (finished 1-1). That was the fourth straight draw for Nantes and although they perform at decent standards something is not clicking.
The biggest problem seems to be in the attacking phase where coach Der Zakarian often made changes (either forced by circumstances or by his own choice), and players still need to work at building chemistry. But they are young, bursting with enthusiasm and energy, and everything is possible in these conditions.
Guests will welcome back defenders Gomis and Cana after suspension.
Nantes are a bit fresher, seeing they haven’t played in midweek, but Lorient with Waris and Moukandjo upfront can open up absolutely every defense in Ligue1. If Nantes would have been a bit more productive upfront a bet on goals would have been very appealing.
UPDATE: Lorient will once again miss defenders Gassama and Lautoa and winger Barthelme. Nantes will miss forward Sightorsson but welcome back forward Bammou.
