Lorient seem to be cursed or something as they are continuously plagued by injuries. It is not only this season, but last season as well, Lorient lost many points due to injuries.
An interesting thing is that most the times it is not the average players that suffer knocks but instead key players like Aliadiere, Traore or Lautoa are the ones missing out.
Striker Aliadiere is back in training, but he barely played this season and most probably won’t make it the entire game. Important midfielder Lautoa suffered an injury last round and most probably will miss out. Forward Diallo also got out injured in the game vs Toulouse and will sit out.
Their injury list is already long enough, with the likes of Traore, Gassama, Kone, Quercia and Barthelme watching the game from the stands.
All compartments in the team are affected: in the defense they are using a defensive midfielder as a central defender (Bourillon), and fullback Gassama will most probably be substituted by Baca, a player highly prone to making mistakes.
The central midfield has been changed so many times this season even their own fans lost track. Now once again it will be changed as Lautoa will most probably miss through injury and will be substituted by Coutadeur who only returned from injury last round.
Upfront Diallo’s injury is forcing coach’s hand to use unprepared Aliadiere. There’s no continuity in Lorient’s lineup, players are continuously changed, their power of adaptation is limited and Lorient’s game is suffering. To be honest it is a shame because they have a lot of potential and usually play pleasant to the eye offensive football.
I personally can’t wait for all the players to be back for Lorient so we can all enjoy some pure attacking football.
As soon as fullback Morel got injured, Marseille’s game improved. Morel made so many mistakes it will take about half hour to list them all… Replacement Mendy is in top form and even managed to score last round against St Etienne.
In general terms, Marseille’s game was good last round and everyone fulfilled their tasks successfully. The most impressive part of the team was the defensive department, who together with the defensive midfielders created an impenetrable wall, but not only that, they were also very active in the offensive phase (both of Marseille’s goals were scored by defensive players).
Gignac and Morel will once again miss, meaning that Mendy will play again (this is a definite plus) but unfortunately this also means that the overrated Ayew brothers will make the lineup…I personally dislike their playing style a lot and find them to be burdens for the entire team.
Even so, Lorient’s problems with the injuries and the continuous rotation prevents the hosts from being a force in Ligue1. Marseille is in good form and the price on DNB at 1.87 is definitely worth.
