The game between Lorient and Bordeaux last round was played mostly in midfield, and only Bordeaux had the power to create real scoring opportunities (won 3-0).
It was another poor performance from Lorient, who have failed to score in the last 3 rounds. Key forward Waris got injured a couple of weeks ago, and the offensive strength diminished considerably. At the moment there are no news regarding his injury.
It is obvious the season is over for Lorient, and they took the foot off the gas for a couple of weeks already. Players also seem really tired and coach Ripoll is trying to make some changes, but unfortunately is not really working out. Last round for example fullback Papa Paye was in the lineup, but suffered a serious injury that will keep him on the sidelines for a long time.
Hosts will also miss fullback Gassama who is suspended.
It was expected for Gazelec Ajaccio to have a difficult end of the season, since games against Lyon and PSG were in the schedule.
Ajaccio still have real chances to survive in Ligue1. Even if they finish on the 18th position, there will be a relegation playoff against 3rd place from Ligue2. They need to concentrate first of all on winning this game, but the problem is they have been really disappointing in away games in 2016.
Gazelec Ajaccio have failed to win away from home so far this season, and in most encounters they were under heavy pressure and had major difficulties in pushing the game forward.
Guests will surely be the ones more motivated, but they are very limited in skills, and no matter how hard they’ll push, the final result may still be disappointing.
UPDATE: Lorient will again miss forward Waris and midfielder Mesloub
