Lorient were very determined last week away at Nancy, and finally managed to get back on the right track after 5 consecutive defeats.
In-spite putting up a lively performance, they were 2-0 down at the break, and only in second half their efforts paid off (won 3-2 thanks to a goal scored in the dying seconds). It was a victory that definitely increased the morale levels and gave them hope for future rounds. With 8 rounds to go Lorient’s situation is pretty serious, and although they have a few talented players and make huge efforts in most games, the defensive blunders are major setbacks.
Hosts will have to do without fullback Moreira who is suspended. Midfielders Cafu and Mesloub will also sit out.
Caen got completely outplayed last week away at Monaco, and although they had their share of chances, the ball didn’t want to enter the net (Monaco won 3-0).
Caen looked pretty good recently, especially from an attacking point of view. Wingers Karamoh and Rodelin were in good form before the international break and initiated most attacking actions. Caen should have the same approach this round, and it will definitely give them an edge against a side missing a regular fullback.
Guests will miss winger Bazile.
Both sides are involved in the fight to avoid relegation, so motivation won’t be an issue. The moment may suit Lorient, but it will be a miracle if they can keep a clean sheet, given the leaky defense. OVER 2.5 GOALS at 1.91
