Lille – Toulouse Preview

2nd placed Lille had a tough game away at Guingamp last round (finished 0-0). Truth is Guingamp kind of cornered them a couple of times and Lille were lucky to escape with a draw.

But the thing is Lille played without 3 regular midfielders: Gueye was suspended and Rodelin and Balmont were injured. Lille had no plan B and as a consequence they suffered. Now all those players will return from injury helping Lille to get back to winning days…

Furthermore even attacking midfielder Martin should return after a long injury but most probably he will start on the bench. Anyway, his replacement Rodelin is way more useful as he creates many key chances per game.

Their defense is a fortress, in the league they haven’t conceded in 8 rounds and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be able to keep a clean sheet this week as well.

Opponents Toulouse were very disappointing last round against Ajaccio. They dominated, held possession but failed to create any real chances. I gave up any kind of hope on this team. There’s nothing changing coach Casanova’s mind: forwards Braithwaite is a regular and will remain so.

For me personally Braithwaite is a total let down, he lacks the basic qualities any footballer needs: intuition, power and ball control. There must be a financial reason for which coach Casanova continues with Braithwaite upfront, because his performances in the field sure as hell don’t have anything to do with football…

So upfront Toulouse suck. This round they will also suck defensively, as central defender Spajic is suspended and Abdennour is still doubtful. If Abdennour won’t play they will have to convert a fullback (Aurier or Ninkov) or a defensive midfielder (Didot or Siriex) to the central defender position.

Toulouse’s shuffled defense in 3 will have no chance against Rodelin’s creativity.

Monaco, Nantes, Montpellier, Lyon , Evian, these are all teams having decent (at least) firepower but couldn’t score against Lille. How will Toulouse, with Braithwaite upfront and little support from the midfield, score?

Price on Lille -0.75 at 1.83 is just insane. I suggest you take it now before it drops.
