Lille are sitting on three consecutive defeats, two in Ligue1, and one in Coupe de France. Regardless the bad run, things improved a bit with the arrival of new coach Galtier, especially in the attacking department.
Although they aren’t scoring many goals, they are very active and aggressive in the attacking department.
They used the best possible lineup in the midweek Cup game away at Strasbourg (with only one or two exceptions), imposed the rhythm, but lost the game and were eliminated from Coupe de France (Strasbourg won 2-1).
Strasbourg on the other hand used mostly reserves and focused on striking on counters. They struggled a bit at the beginning of 2018 and suffered two straight defeats, but slowly picked up rhythm and increased confidence.
Although they don’t have any world class talents, Strasbourg usually rely mostly on the attacking phase.
Lille will be without defenders Maia, Soumaoro and midfielder Maia, while Strasbourg will miss defender Kone.
Lille’s games should be very entertaining from now on, with coach Galtier pushing hard for Lille to escape the red zone. We should see plenty of scoring opportunities in this game, especially with Strasbourg also focusing more on the attacking aspect. Over 2.5 goals at 1.98
