Confident performance by Lille last round away at Lorient (won 1-0). Lille struggled a bit in the attacking phase, mostly because their efforts were concentrated in defense, and playmaker Boufal suffered an injury early in the game.
Lille are still chasing the 5th place that will assure a presence in Europa League (from the 6th place they will qualify only if PSG win Coupe de France). It will be difficult for Lille without Boufal in the last two rounds, and most probably they will continue to focus mainly on the defensive phase.
Hosts will welcome back central defender Civelli after suspension.
When it comes to organization, Guingamp made a poor game last week away at Monaco (lost 3-2). They missed three important players, and the entire game plan seem to have been changed.
Most probably things will return to normal this round, since winger Giresse, defender Kerbrat and midfielder Diallo will return from suspension.
The season is over for Guingamp, but they can still be very dangerous, even when opponents clearly dominate (like it happened last week when Guingamp scored twice against Monaco). Thanks to the experience of forwards Briand and Erding, Guingamp can easily take opponents by surprise and score when nobody expects it.
Lille will surely struggle to create scoring opportunities without Boufal. They may be forced to bring more players to the attacking phase, case in which Guingamp’s experienced forwards could exploit on counters. Odds on Lille are too low to hold any value.
UPDATE: Lille welcome back central defenders Civelli and Basa.
