Lyon undeservingly took all point last round away at Troyes. But football is rarely fair, if it would be more often, all of use bettors would be millionaires…
They didn’t had much ideas at creation so there were very few chances for Gomis and Lisandro. Moving the ball cluelessly in the midfield seems to be their favorite tactic.
In fact, both their goals were the result of set pieces. On the flank Bastos advances 10 feet and makes a 20 feet pass back. On the other side Lacazette was left on the bench and they used a young player, Ghezzal, that was mainly invisible. Good news for them is that midfielder Grenier will be back after injury and that will boost their creating abilities. Quality is there for sure in this squad but they may be slow starters and need some time to get back on track and find the proper rhythm.
Defensive midfielder Gonalons is by far their best and most valuable player, without him in the squad all compartments (defense and offense) would suffer.
But even with Gonalons their defense is hesitant, both in the center and on the flanks. The main attribute of the central defenders is that they are slow, both Bisevac and Lovren, and can be easily surprised.
Evian were reduced to 10 men early in the game last round. As a consequence they lost, but they made a nice impression. Many players were out but even so they looked very determined, made great efforts and even created some dangerous actions now and then (keep in mind that they were in 10) forcing opponents Brest to defend with many players. They are deprived of many players: Mensah, Mongongu, Djakaridja Koné, Khelifa, Rabiu, Dja Djedje, M’Madi, Laquait and Angoula. Most of these guys missed last round as well, the only new absences will be the ones of Laquit and Angoula that are suspended.
They will have to improvise a bit in order to find the perfect solutions. When looking at the list of absentees we get an impulse to jump on Lyon with handicap, however the display of these teams last round definitely favors the guests. Upfront and in the midfield they have enough solutions for a very competitive line up, with the likes of Barbosa, Sagbo or Adnane. The only problem will be in the defense where they will have to convert a fullback to a central defender position.
Lyon will be pushed by the crowds and their definite favorite status. More players will get up the field and will participate at creation in the attempt to break Evian’s wall. Barbosa, Evian’s most experienced player, has what it takes to exploit this situation and serve the perfect assist to speedy forwards like Sagbo or Adnane. Evian to score at around 1.9 is the perfect option for this game, taken with medium to low stakes, 3.5/10.
