Ajaccio made a heroic game last round away at PSG. They managed to upset most bettors in the world by getting a well deserved 0-0 draw. Except the offense, everything was at high standards in their camp. Contrary to public opinion, they didn’t defend with 10 men and many of PSG’s actions were stopped even before they were born. They missed many players, players that will also be out this round, but that didn’t change anything in their warrior attitude. Winger Sammaritano will be added to the list of absentees, as he got injured (most probably the only change in the team). Like said previously, the only problem seems to be upfront, where few chances are being created. Usually when playing at home, all players make extra efforts, pushed by fanatic fans and pride. This will mean more help for the forwards and more chances. With Eduardo and Mutu there’s enough quality in their offense to hurt a shaky defense like Valenciennes have at the moment.
Guests were simply humiliated away at Nice last round, completely outplayed and hurt in their pride… Nothing worked for them, the defense was a mess, the midfield without any ideas and the offensive players were useless. But most of all, players didn’t seem to have any determination and this is what really buried them.
Not much will be changed since that game, as they will be using the same team, with only one exception (maybe). Offensive midfielder Melikson, newly transferred from Wisla Krakow. Even if he will play, there’s not much a new player can change from his first game. This will be a dramatic start of 2013, especially since after this game they will have 2 tough games vs Lyon and Bordeaux.
We have to be realistic and admit that Ajaccio don’t have Nice’s qualities, but they can compensate through big efforts and conviction, they always do, especially when playing on home ground. All the points to remain in Corsica, Ajaccio to win.
