There was not much Lens could do last round away at Lorient seeing that important defender Landre got a red card very early in the game (minute 15). Afterwards Lens simply gave up attacking and concentrated all forces on defending and as a consequence they lost by a minimum margin 1-0.
Lens are now sitting on three straight defeats and they are getting closer to Ligue2 as round goes by.
Lens have one of the poorest home records in Ligue1 so far, with only 4 points from 6 games. It is really a shame as they have many talented players especially in the offensive department, but it seems coach Kombouare never finds the right formula.
They must be more aggressive and offensive as there is no other way to survive in Ligue1.
Hosts will miss central defender Landre through suspension. His place will most likely be taken by Gbamin who is a hesitant player.
Last week Metz made so many defensive errors that at one point it was really hard to keep on counting (lost 3-2 to PSG). Even if they scored twice, upfront Metz also looked a bit soft, especially in the first half. At half time coach Cartier must have realized the lack of speed and vision and introduced attacking midfielder Krivets and young winger N’Gbakoto. Things immediately changed and Metz started to threat more even if they didn’t really create constant pressure (few teams in Ligue1 can actually do that against PSG…).
If coach Cartier wants what is best for Metz then Krivets and N’Gbakoto should be in the lineup this round.
Since hosts are hungry for points this should be an open game, an action packed encounter. Given that defensive errors are something usual for both Lens and Metz we should see at least 3 goals. Over 2.25 at 2.21
UPDATE: Guests’ central defender Choplin was given some rest time.
