Lens – Evian Preview

Lens got a great result last round away at St Etienne after a decent performance (3-3 draw). Lens are yet to win in 2015 but they are constantly improving and are performing way better than their current table position suggests.

Coach Kombouare is very inspired lately and his decisions last round assured 1 point for Lens. When they were 2-0 down coach Kombouare made 2 changes that sealed the fate of the game. Forward Touzghar, who had only returned from injury, entered the field along with midfielder Chavarria. Touzghar scored twice and Chavarria once and Lens returned home with a precious point.

Key fullback Baal was left only on the bench but replacement Boulanger had an excellent performance and was rock solid in-front of highly skilled winger Hamouma.

Evian transferred-in two offensive minded players and both of them were in the lineup last round. Striker Duhamel from Caen and winger Sunu from Lorient are both skilled players and on long term will definitely improve Evian’s offensive phase. But on short term it’s a disaster as the chemistry levels dropped considerably and even made best player Wass lose form.

Wass literally bumped heads with Duhamel and was visibly annoyed by both Duhamel’s and Sunu’s individual actions (they exaggerated in the attempt to score).

Evian should welcome back defenders Mongongu and Mensah from the African Cup of Nations.

Duhamel and Sunu may be exactly what Evian need in order to escape relegation but they need to adapt first and trying to skip that stage may create more problems.

Out-of-form Evian with low levels of chemistry may be the perfect opponent for Lens to get their first win of 2015. Lens -0.5 at 1.95

UPDATE: Lens welcome back winger El Jadeyaoui. Guests will also welcome back an offensive midfielder, young Thomasson.
