League Cup: Montpellier – Nice Preview

[pullquote]Hosts may win this game, as nobody denies that they have a more valuable team, but it won’t be a trashing as Montpellier just can’t humiliate anyone in France… If they will somehow manage to impose, in front of an in form squad, it will be with a minimum advantage. In this case +1 for Nice at 2.00 looks great.[/pullquote]Montpellier finally won a game!!! It was against a side (Bordeaux) that rested a couple of players, among them their best man (Tremoulinas).

Montpellier’s players were so happy at the end like they had won Champions League or something. Now imagine the confidence they have in themselves… Not even last season, when they won the league, there wasn’t such a celebration. Besides winning they welcomed back Utaka after a recurring injury. But he barely touched the ball, he’ll need some time to get back on form.

They will be without Belhanda and forward Charbonnier as they were both given rest time. In Belhanda’s absence all the burden of creating will be on young Cabella’s shoulders. He’s a great talent, a prospect for the future, but no youngster loves responsibilities… He’s doing great when all players are available and nobody expects wonders from him, but when he’s the center of attention he always fails.

Most probably they will be using Herrera upfront and he’s just not Ligue 1 material…

The defense improved a bit, with Hilton back and Yanga-Mbiwa not making so many mistakes as usual… It will be further improved as fullback Jeunechamp is back after serving suspension, just like defensive midfielder Saihi.

Nice is producing some great displays as of late. The central defense with Pejcinovic and Civelli works again at full potential. There’s a high amount of confidence in the team, when they have a defense like this.

Argentinian striker Cvitanich is maybe the best transfer they had in a long time. He’s doing wonders upfront and is capable of carrying actions by himself, or create superiority for teammates.

Winger Bautheac is back and that will improve their offensive potential. The other winger Pied is doubtful, but he won’t be an important absence in case he misses this game.

The atmosphere in their camp is at high levels and the confidence is skyrocketing, just the opposite in comparison to Montpellier’s confidence….

Hosts may win this game, as nobody denies that they have a more valuable team, but it won’t be a trashing as Montpellier just can’t humiliate anyone in France… If they will somehow manage to impose, in front of an in form squad, it will be with a minimum advantage. In this case +1 for Nice at 2.00 looks great.
