Ligue1 proved to be a very entertaining and surprising tournament.
Troyes relegated with many rounds before the actual end of the season, but believe it or not Troyes had more corners than PSG (Troyes 206, PSG 204).
Marseille have the highest number of long balls this season (1009), and this surely says something about their playing style and why they ended up struggling to avoid relegation.
Of course PSG have the highest number of shots on target (255), followed by Lyon with 203 attempts on target. PSG also leads when it comes to ball possession (59%), but it’s surprising to see Nice on the 3rd position with 56% possession.
Bastia’s keeper Leca has the highest number of saves (75), followed closely by Lecomte (Lorient), Lossl (Guingamp), Subasic (Monaco) and Enyeama (Lille). These keepers made miracles this season and often assured a clean sheet on their own.
Ligue1 is not as entertaining as Premier League, La Liga or Bundesliga, as the most frequent scoreline is 1-1, score that occurred in 14.2% of all games, followed by 1-0 and 0-0.
Bastia and Toulouse are the most aggressive Ligue1 sides with 10 red cards each, while Gazelec Ajaccio has the highest number of yellow cards (89). It is interesting to see that Bastia also received a huge number of yellow cards (86), so there shouldn’t be any doubts about their aggressiveness.
PSG pretty much leads in all other aspects, most goals scored, best defense, top scorer (Ibrahimovic) and most assists (Di Maria).
