Guingamp fully deserved to take all points after a solid performance away at Caen last round (won 2-0).
They closed down all possible spaces and forced opponents to try their luck only from outside the penalty box. In the other part of the field forwards were very pragmatic and converted the few real opportunities they created.
Even forward Mandanne, who was kind of lazy recently, made a good game and even delivered an assist.
Guingamp are 6 points clear the relegation zone, in good form and high confidence, and most probably they will try to build on the good moment and avoid relegation woes in the final rounds, especially since tough games away at PSG and St Etienne will follow.
It is no surprise to see Reims so close to the relegation zone since they are leaking goals from all positions. They have the poorest defense in Ligue1, both according to stats and to the reality in the field. There is no such thing as man-marking for Reims and at set pieces opponents run freely inside the penalty box. Defending against fast paced actions is also something out of a sci-fi movie for Reims.
Upfront Reims look decent and are scoring goals, but it is of no use since opponents always outscore them.
Hosts definitely have the upper hand here and they will surely try to take advantage of Reims’ shaky defense. With all offensive players in good form Guingamp should find the net at least once. Guingamp -0.5 at 2.04
UPDATE: Reims will welcome back defenders Signorino and Weber and defensive midfielder Bourillon.
