Guingamp PSG Preview

GUINGAMP

Guingamp made a good game last week away at St Etienne, and were unfortunate to lose all points (St Etienne won 1-0). The first half was more balanced, but second half was fully controlled by Guingamp. Unfortunately they weren’t very pragmatic in the attacking phase, and failed to convert their chances.

Guingamp is one of the few Ligue1 sides who make constant efforts throughout 90 minutes, and don’t decrease rhythm all of a sudden. That is actually one of the main reasons for the positive performances so far.

Coach Kombouare used mostly reserves in the midweek Cup game away at Lyon. Forward Briand, winger Salibur, midfielders Diallo and Didot, and defenders Ikoko, Marchal and Kerbrat were left outside the squad, or were only on the bench. Guingamp were dominated for most of the game, but were very efficient, scored twice, and won the game at penalties (2-2 after 120 mins).

Hosts will have to do without midfielder Blas (suspended) and forward Privat.

PSG

PSG have conceded a total of 8 goals in the last 4 games (Champions League and Cup included). Opponents weren’t exactly world class talents, so those numbers are really worrying.

Furthermore there are reports of tension in the locker room, and that could damage playing relations.

At least they used the second squad in the midweek Cup game against Lille (with a few exceptions), and managed to preserve energy (PSG won 3-1).

Guests will be without midfielder Pastore and forward Ben Arfa.

BETTING

PSG have been far from impressive in their away games so far. They suffered 3 defeats and got 5 wins, but came under pressure in most those victories. The moment is perfect for Guingamp to get a historic result. GUINGAMP +1 at 2.07
