Guingamp deserved more than a draw last round away at Bordeaux (finished 1-1). Opponents had more possession but only Guingamp created really dangerous chances.
Winger Beauvue scored again and his market value must have skyrocketed after finding the net in the last 4 games and performing at high standards round after round.
Forward Mandanne is also in excellent form even if he is not scoring in every game. Mandanne is extremely active, finds the target from unthinkable positions and also delivers key passes for teammates coming from behind.
Good news for Guingamp as they will welcome back central midfielder Sankhare after suspension.
In the midweek Cup game against Bastia Monaco once again proved they are incapable of finding the net from open play (Bastia qualified for the final after penalties). Every single action created from open play is predictable and opponents don’t have difficulties in stopping them.
Individual skills are at good levels but unfortunately most the times players exaggerate with dribbling moves instead of making simple passes that could change the fate of a game.
At Monaco the collective play suffers and players choose to rely on individual skills instead of working to improve chemistry. In the end they get tangled in their own dribbles and taking the ball is just a formality for the opponents. It is no wonder Monaco failed to score in the last 2 games.
Guests will welcome back winger Carrasco after missing the midweek Cup game through suspension.
Guingamp isn’t exactly the kind of team to apply constant pressure but thanks to efficiency in the attacking phase they don’t need prolonged possession in order to score. Hosts are in good form and confidence and should be able to continue the good run against demoralized (after being eliminated from the Cup) Monaco. Guingamp +0.25 at 1.92
