Guingamp – Metz Preview - Ligue 1 Betting Tips

Guingamp – Metz Preview

Guingamp had a shy performance last round away at Monaco (lost 1-0) and only thanks to keeper’s Lossl reflexes they conceded only once.

Coach Gourvennec tried to change the team a bit and avoid tiredness as this will be Guingamp’s 3rd game in only a week. Still, they have a small squad and only 1 player could be fully rested, defender Kerbrat.

Their Europa League adventure could do more harm rather than good seeing the competition is tough in Ligue1 and tiredness quickly accumulates.

Guingamp rely on home games for getting the vast majority of points needed for avoiding relegation, so most likely they will start the game very determined regardless the tiredness.

Central defender Milan made a crucial mistake 2 rounds ago that led to Metz losing 1 important point but coach Cartier gave him another chance and this time the bet paid. Besides having a decent defensive performance, Milan also scored a goal that helped Metz take the lead in an important moment.

After coach Cartier realized that playing with 2 strikers leaves too many open spaces for opponents he went back to the 4-5-1 system. Still, 1 midfielder in the lineup was converted from the forward position (Krivets) so there were still some deficiencies when doing the defensive phase.

Metz won 3-1 over Bastia last round but they were far from impressive. Especially midfielder Lejeune, who should be an important player, has disappointing performances with many wrong passes, failed shooting attempts and failed interceptions.

In defense Metz looked really soft and they conceded just 1 goal only thanks to Bastia’s reduced offensive power.

Metz will once again miss keeper Carrasso and midfielder Rocchi due to injuries.

This could be a weird encounter with Guingamp struggling to overcame their limits and make the most of their favorite status, and Metz who will concentrate on disrupting everything hosts create and only threat on counters.

UPDATE: Guingamp welcome back midfielder Sankhare but on the other hand Lemaitre, Mathis and Pied were given some rest time.
