The game between Guingamp and Bastia last round was not that one sided as the result suggests (Bastia won 3-0), in-fact Guingamp continuously pushed the game forward but they failed to be pragmatic and apply the finishing touch.
Guingamp have lost all their games so far this season and have failed to score even one goal. Although they have transferred-in experienced forward Briand they still can’t cope with the absences of goalscorers Beauvue and Mandanne who left the team this summer.
All Guingamp’s forwards (Briand, Dembele and Privat) arrived this summer and they are not yet familiar with one another or with the rest of teammates.
The other departments look decent with midfielders working hard every game and managing to outplay opponents thanks to big efforts (it happened two rounds ago against Lyon).
Marseille did it again, just like last season they proved to be one of the most unpredictable sides in the league. They lost both games in the first two rounds and even lost their coach and nothing announced what was about to come.
They simply destroyed Troyes last week after winning 6-0. There is no single factor that led to this result and the only explanation is that all of Marseille’s key players had an excellent day. Even striker Batshuayi who wasted some huge chances in the first rounds manged to score twice last week. Winger Allesandrini was also extremely active and delivered two assists and also scored a goal.
All of Marseille’s offensive players were in top form and all the action happened mostly in Troyes’ half.
The only question is if Marseille can keep up the rythm, especially when visiting a hard working team prone to extra efforts.
Guests will miss fullback Dja Djedje so newly arrived Manquillo should continue in the lineup.
With hosts’ midfielders in a continuous move this game won’t be a walk in the park for Marseille, but with low levels of chemistry in the attacking phase Guingamp don’t have that many chances against an in-form and full of confidence Marseille. Marseille -0.5 at 2.12
