Guingamp Lille Preview

GUINGAMP

Last round away at Troyes, Guingamp were dominated for most of the game but opponents weren’t efficient when trying to apply the finishing touch and Guingamp were lucky enough to speculate on counters with 10 minutes to go.

Although they won 1-0 the game at Troyes was actually one of the poorest Guingamp played this season (the display was even more disappointing than in the away game at Bastia when they lost 3-0).

Luckily for Guingamp they have forward Briand upfront and can always score out of nothing.

Guingamp may have some problems this round as they will have to do without experienced central midfielders Sankhare and Mathis (suspended). These two guys are actually the backbone of the team and it will be interesting to see how Guingamp will perform without them. Mathis missed a couple of other games as well this season due to injury, but for Sankhare this will only be the second game he’ll miss (first one was the game against PSG when he was rested, PSG won 3-0).

LILLE

Lille got their second win of the season last round against Montpellier after a convincing performance (won 2-0). Lille’s biggest problem at the moment is the lack of a striker with killer instincts. In most games Tallo is isolated upfront and when teammates finally reach him Tallo easily losses possession.

In these conditions Lille are forced to rely on play-maker Boufal (who is top scorer in this moment) and fullbacks / wingers Corchia and Sidibe.

Besides the attacking problem Lille look really good and have the most powerful defensive phase in the tournament (according to stats) with only 4 goals conceded so far.

Lille will have to do without winger Bautheac who is suspended

BETTING

Missing both central midfielders will surely diminish Guingamp’s overall strength and Lille could take advantage of this situation, especially since they picked up some rythm last round. Lille DNB at 2.07
