Guingamp Bordeaux Preview

guingamp bordeaux preview

GUINGAMP

Guingamp made a heroic game last week away at Gazelec Ajaccio. Guingamp had to play 80 minutes in numerical inferiority, but still resisted and kept a clean sheet (finished 0-0).

Of course they concentrated all forces in defense and barely had a decent shot on target.

Guingamp are in good form at the moment, but they haven’t been as convincing as the results suggests (10 points in the last 4 rounds). Midfielder Sankhare and forward Briand are the most important players, and without them Guingamp simply wouldn’t stand a chance.

Things will be a bit different for Guingamp this week, as they will have to do without central midfielders Mathis and Sankhare, both of them suspended.

BORDEAUX

Bordeaux are in a transition period at the moment. They sold playmaker Khazri, a couple of other players arrived, and they also changed strategy recently.

It seems that from now on Bordeaux will focus on building down the flanks where they have highly skilled players (fullbacks Contento and Debuchy). But it may take them a while to adapt and master this strategy.

Keeper Bernardoni transferred-in from Troyes and will take Carrasso’s place in the lineup (Carrasso is injured for the rest of the season). Midfielder Arambarri arrived from Uruguay, and although he is not very experienced, he will often be in the lineup. The same goes for Brazilian forward Malcom who transferred-in from Corinthians.

Bordeaux used a mixed squad in the midweek Cup against Nantes, with some of the most important players not even on the bench (Nantes won 4-3 in extra time). Debuchy, Contento, Chantome and Diabate should return to the lineup after missing the Cup game.

BETTING

It will be extremely difficult for Guingamp without their best central midfielders. Both the defense and the offense will suffer and Bordeaux can definitely exploit that, even if they aren’t performing at full potential. BORDEAUX +0.25 at 1.94
