Guingamp’s last result was more than amazing. You may say “a win is only a win” what’s so amazing about that?
Well first of all it was Guingamp’s first away win this season and it only proved that Guingamp were constantly picking up form.
Secondly Guingamp somehow found the power to come back after being 1-0 down when they were missing no less than 3 important players.
Central midfielders Sankhare and Mathis, key elements in Guingamp’s strategy, were suspended last round and will return now. Also topscorer Yatabare suffered a last minute injury and missed the win vs Evian. Most likely he will return to the lineup now.
With an increased morale, playing at home and with 3 key players returning, Guingamp will have wings this rounds. Few French teams can resist under these circumstances and Ajaccio is definitely not one of them.
Until a couple of rounds ago Ajaccio’s major issue was the toothless offense. Now I don’t know what to think anymore regarding Ajaccio’s biggest problem, seeing the defense started to underperform. This happens because of the constant pressure they are subjected to in every game. No proper forwards, the midfield can’t hold the ball for long, so there’s nothing else to do except withdraw in defense.
On top of that, Ajaccio will miss attacking players Cavalli and Arrache, both of them injured last round. There seems to be a conflict going on between coach Ravanelli and forward Mutu. Nothing official, only rumors for now, but I wouldn’t be surprised seeing that Mutu is not the smartest of players and a very stubborn one, while Ravanelli doesn’t really have any noticeable experience in training. Coach Ravanelli only uses Mutu when he is forced to do it, like it happened last round. To be honest nobody blames Ravanelli, especially when Mutu spits his lungs out after running 10 meters…
Now once again, because of the injuries of Cavalli and Arrache, Mutu will have to start.
According both to stats (6 goals in 10 games) and also to what’s going on in the field, Ajaccio have the worst attack in Ligue1. Well… wait and see them now with Mutu upfront from the 1st minute…
The only good news for Ajaccio is midfielder Lasne returning after fulfilling his suspension.
Guingamp could win over Ajaccio in any given day, only that now, the special circumstances I just mentioned, will definitely ease their job.
Take Guingamp to win at 1.75 as I see a massive drop in odds until game day.
2-0 for me in my Ligue1 correct score accumulator.
