Disappointing result for Gazelec Ajaccio last round away at Toulouse. Ajaccio was the better side, controlled the game, took the lead, but got a red card and were equalized in the dying seconds (finished 1-1).
Ajaccio’s good performance had a lot to do with opponents’ poor form and lack of confidence. Gazelec Ajaccio have been far from convincing lately, but they are still 6 points points above the relegation zone, mainly because direct competitors are performing at Ligue2 level.
In defense they are very fragile and can easily be caught on the wrong foot, while upfront best player Larbi lost form and was only on the bench last round.
Hosts will have to do without fullback Sylla who got a red card last week, but they welcome back defender Mangane and midfielder Youga after suspension.
Marseille must be the most underperforming side in Ligue1. It’s been 4 rounds already since they last won a game, and recently they slipped in the second half of the table.
Judging only by players’ names, Marseille could easily compete in Champions League. But in reality they struggle to get positive results against mediocre French sides.
Winger Alessandrini is unrecognizable after injury, nobody understands midfielder’s Cabella intentions, winger Thauvin is more selfish than ever, and striker Batshuayi plays around with opportunities.
Guests will have to do without central defender N’Koulou who is suspended
Marseille are definitely way more valuable than Gazelec Ajaccio, but unfortunately they can’t be trusted given the way they perform at the moment.
UPDATE: No surprises in Marseille’s squad
