After the shameful defeat last week on home ground against Montpellier (lost 4-0), Gazelec Ajaccio made another poor performance last round away at Nantes (lost 3-1).
They were very soft in the attacking phase and their goal was the result of pure luck (opponents’ defenders bumped heads).
This sudden decline is simply inexplicable, especially since Gazelec Ajaccio started the year with the right foot. When the season resumed they were scoring 2 goals per game, but now they even struggle to be dangerous from corners and set pieces.
Hosts will have to do without midfielder Youga who is suspended.
Guingamp easily won last round against Troyes, but they weren’t as superior as the scoreline suggests (finished 4-0). Especially the first half was very balanced, and the difference was made by the early goal when second half resumed.
Striker Erding finally scored his first goal for Guinagmp, but unfortunately his performance was kind of a let down, with many lost balls and missed passes.
Key forward Briand was the man of the match with three assists delivered and many more important passes.
Keeper Lossl also made a great game and had a couple of amazing interventions that helped Guingamp keep a clean sheet.
Guingamp lost fullback Martins-Pereira who suffered an injury and most probably will sit out this round.
When it comes to form these sides are at opposite ends. But Guingamp were never convincing in away games and Gazelec Ajaccio can always be surprising on home ground.
UPDATE: No surprises in Guingamp’s squad
