Unfortunately for Evian both their forwards, Sougou and Ruben are in the poorest form ever.
Top scorer Berigaud is still injured so Evian have no other chance than continue with the two players mentioned.
For Sougou it all started 3 rounds ago against Monaco, when he missed some incredible chances and Evian lost 2 points. Ruben was never really in-form since arriving or even before the transfer…
Only on the wings with Wass and Dja Djedje Evian can hold possession a bit and have some shy attempts at building actions. But since there’s nobody reliable upfront to receive the ball and behind wingers are only defensive midfielders, both Wass and Dja Djedje prefer advancing alone. Needless to say this kind of playing style will be useless against PSG.
For PSG defensive midfielder Motta is highly doubtful and most probably won’t be risked. But PSG have enough alternatives, even if not at the same world class level. 18 years old Rabiot could be enough for preventing toothless Evian from creating anything.
It is true that Evian’s strength is playing on the wings, where PSG sometimes have problems defending. But with Evian’s forwards being out-of-form and PSG’s defensive midfielders covering for fullbacks, I just can’t see how hosts could score.
PSG’s coach Blanc finally started with both Lucas and Cavani last round. Lucas was moved to the left side and it worked out great for them. With the offensive trio Lucas – Ibrahimovic – Cavani no team in Ligue1 can escape without conceding, especially Evian whose central defenders are usually day dreaming in the first half. Their brains processes the information slower so they realize the game began only after half an hour….
The odds of 2.00 for PSG -1.5 are should not be missed.
UPDATE: PSG will also miss Alex and Lavezzi. Lavezzi’s absence won’t make any difference because of Lucas. Alex however will be missed as his replacement will be young Marquinhos, a player making at least 1 decisive error per game. Hopefully hosts won’t be able to exploit those errors, given the bad form of their offensive players. Still PSG -1.5
