Evian were under complete domination last round away at Guingamp but somehow they got away with a draw (finished 1-1).
Given recent results (which are decent) Evian seem to be punching above their weight and they are lucky to sit 2 points above the relegation zone.
One way or another they are getting vital points, just like it happened last round against Guingamp. Defenders left many open spaces but thanks to keeper Leroy they conceded only once. With the exception of a couple of long range attempt coming from midfielder Thomasson Evian were invisible in the offensive phase.
Things could improve this week seeing that Evian may welcome back key striker Duhamel and midfielder Sorlin after injuries.
Bastia are also having disappointing performances, but unlike Evian they aren’t getting any points. Defending against set pieces is a nightmare for Bastia and their excellent level of organization seem to have decreased dramatically.
About 2 months ago the midfield with Danic, Boudebouz and Ayite was in excellent condition and Bastia were creating more chances than in the entire first half of the season. Unfortunately it was only a passing moment and nowadays Bastia have serious problems in keeping possession and pushing the game forward.
Central defender Squillaci suffered a new injury last round and most probably will sit out. Forward Sio will also miss due to injury.
Both sides are playing poor football but only Evian are winning points. Furthermore there can be improvement only in Evian’s camp if Duhamel and Sorlin will return from injury. Evian -0.5 at 2.16
UPDATE: It’s official, Sorlin and Duhamel are back in the squad for Evian. Bastia will miss Marange, Sio and Cahuzac but will welcome back Ba and Ongenda.
