It was no surprise seeing Evian being trashed away at Lyon (lost 3-0), especially since they played in 10 for about 1 half.
So far 2014 hasn’t been exactly a good year for Evian. The major problem seems to be upfront where top-scorer Berigaud hasn’t scored since September… He was injured for a long period and just can’t pick up a rythm since returning.
[restrict paid=true level=1]It seems that coach Dupraz gave up on Berigaud and is looking for alternatives. Last round he Dupraz made an experiment and started with young forward N’Sikulu. The experiment failed of course as opponents Lyon were rock solid at the back.
Now there’s a high possibility for Dupraz to start with newly arrived De Melo from Lille. De Melo hasn’t seen any official action with Lille in quite some time, so at the moment he is in the same situation as striker Berigaud.
Evian and Marseille exchanged fullbacks, Dja Djedje went to Marseille and Abdallah arrived at Evian. This move won’t change much as both right backs have about the same value and even playing style, maybe Dja Djedje is a bit more offensive. Abdallah may go straight into the lineup for Evian.
Central midfielder Kone suffered an injury against Lyon but it seems he is ok now. This is good news as the other central midfielder Tie Bie is still injured.
Evian will welcome back winger Sougou after he was suspended last week. Central defender Mensah is suspended after getting a red card last round.
Really embarrassing performance by Ajaccio last round (1-1 vs Sochuax). Ajaccio started the game in force, opened the score early (min 10), and only tried to defend the advantage for the rest 80 minutes. Ajaccio got punished in a brutal manner after Sochaux equalized in the dying seconds.
The points lost against Sochaux were vital for Ajaccio’s survival. Top-scorer Eduardo (only 3 goals but still top-scorer…) realized Ajaccio are doomed and agreed to an offer made by Ligue2 leaders Metz…
Ajaccio also lost important player Cavalli who suffered an injury last round. He is very doubtful ahead of this game. Adding to that misfortune is the suspension of midfielder Faty. Just a quick reminder that midfielders Pedretti and Lasne (dounbt) are also injured. I will give an update regarding Cavalli and Lasne when the group of players will be announced.
It will be hard for Ajaccio to build anything, not to mention score. Not only because of the low morale, but also because of injuries. Ajaccio may concentrate on defending, but I see them being softer than usual.
This is a good opportunity for Evian to finally get a win in 2014. We may see 4 players in their lineup who could be more determined than ever in an attempt to prove something: forward Berigaud (prove he is still an important player), young forward N’Sikulu (prove coach Dupraz wasn’t wrong when he gave him a chance), newly arrived forward De Melo (prove he deserves more than being on the bench), new fullback Abdallah (prove he is at the same level with Dja Djedje)
Evian to win at 1.79, medium confidence.
UPDATE: Lasne and Cavalli are available for Ajaccio. Same bet lower stakes [/restrict]
