Dijon Lyon Preview

dijon lyon preview

Dijon made a decent game last round away at Lille, and was really disappointing to lose because of a goal conceded in the final minutes (lost 1-0). Maybe because they lack experience at this level, Dijon didn’t defend when they should’ve, and instead opened up and invited opponents to strike.

Dijon haven’t improved much in comparison to last season and they will struggle to survive in Ligue1. Their most dangerous player is top scorer Tavares, but he receives little help upfront, seeing he makes a partnership with newly arrived Bahamboula, who played in 3rd league last season.

Balmont came from Lille and is now Dijon’s leader in midfield, but however combative he may be, at 36 he’s got real problems in keeping up with opponents.

Hosts should once again miss midfielder Martin who is injured.

Lyon fully controlled the game against Caen last week and easily took all points (won 2-0). Although they scored both goals from penalties, Lyon constantly pushed the game forward and created difficulties for an opponent whose main purpose was to close down all spaces in defense.

Lacazette scored all of Lyon’s goals so far (5 goals) and it will be really difficult to replace him in case he transfers out. They do have other valuable attacking players (Valbuena, Cornet, Fekir), but with different profiles and not so incisive as Lacazette.

Fullback Rybus played his first game for Lyon and seems to fit perfectly in the system. He arrived from Terek Grozny where he scored 9 goals last season. Rybus may once again make the team this round, since Morel is doubtful.

The difference between these teams is huge and the excellent price on Lyon is gift that shouldn’t be missed. Lyon will surely be a public bet this week, so bets should be placed while odds hold some value. LYON -0.75 at 2.12

UPDATE: Lyon will once again miss fullback Morel and forward Ghezzal.
