Caen suffered a humiliating defeat last round away at Marseille (lost 5-0). It was a surprising result, especially considering how Caen performed lately.
The left side was extremely vulnerable, but it may have been only an isolated incident, seeing the direct opponent was winger Thauvin, who is a world class player with excellent skills.
Leaving aside the game last round, Caen are usually highly organized, defend with confidence and can be really dangerous on counters.
Last round Nice finally bounced back after 4 consecutive defeats (6 if we count Europa League). But the performance in itself was far from convincing, as they were able to find the net only from the penalty spot. (won 1-0 against Dijon).
Nice have been very disappointing lately from all aspects. They lack efficiency in the attacking phase, midfielders get tangled in their own dribbling moves and defenders miss easy clearances.
Hosts will miss defender Guilbert, midfielder Ait Bennasser and winger Repas. Nice will be without winger Saint-Maximin and forward Balotelli.
Caen is a powerful team on home ground, very confident and energetic. Nice don’t seem capable of getting any points from this encounter. Caen DNB at 1.88
