Caen were really unlucky to lose last round away at Metz. They held most of the possession, created the best of chances and furthermore Metz managed to score the winner only in the last minute (Metz won 3-2).
The bad news doesn’t stop here as regular central defender Musavu-King suffered an injury and most likely will miss this round. Possible replacement Appiah got a red card and will also miss through suspension.
Central midfielder Feret was undoubtedly Caen’s most active player as he was in the center of attention and most actions involved him in one way or another.
It will be harder for Caen this round seeing they will be missing a central defender (and possible replacement) and also the morale is kind of low after last round.
Nantes made a decent game last round against Rennes (drew 1-1) but even so they have the referee to thank for getting 1 point after opponents had two goals canceled.
Offensive players seem to be in good form, with Gakpe making the difference through speed and ball control and Veretout through creativity. Lone striker Bammou also showed increased playing appetite and especially his aerial play is really impressive. But even so Nantes aren’t exactly capable of taking down defensive walls.
Guests have a solid defense and most likely will sit back and wait for Caen to make the first move that could lead to their defensive destabilization. Caen’s low morale may ease Nantes’ job, but in the same time the loss against Metz last round may make them more determined than ever. This should be an interesting game to watch but not that appealing in terms of betting.
UPDATE: Forward Aristigueta is back in the squad for Nantes after being only with the 2nd team for a couple of rounds
