After 3 consecutive defeats and poor performances Caen felt Ligue2 approaching and increased the rythm a bit. Their extra efforts paid off as they secured an important point in the battle to avoid relegation (1-1 away at Nice).
The problem is that Caen don’t have many resources available nowadays and players seem both exhausted and bored with playing football. A couple of months ago they were capable of creating lighting actions down the flanks, but now they move in slow motion and are more predictable than ever.
They are only 2 points above the relegation zone and normally efforts should increase, but looking at Caen’s recent performances players are out of stamina and in these conditions positive results are only a distant dream.
Hosts will welcome back winger Bazile after suspension but midfielder Feret is once again doubtful.
Lyon’s good form continued after another positive result against struggling Evian (won 2-0). Mathematically they have good chances of winning the title (only 3 points away from PSG) but in reality it is almost impossible to compete with a side worth millions of euro…
In the attacking phase Lyon are simply world class material and there is nothing stopping Lacazette and Fekir. Creative midfielder Grenier scored his first goal of the season last week after returning from a long injury a couple of rounds ago. This is definitely a huge confidence boost and solid performances should follow until the end of the season.
Lyon will miss suspended fullback Jallet, but that’s not exactly a bad thing as his offensive appetite can put the defense in dangerous situations, especially since Caen have some skilled wingers. Forward N’Jie will also sit out due to injury.
Lyon will play their chance until the final whistle of the last round and out-of-form and tired Caen won’t be able to put an end to Lyon’s ambitions. Lyon -0.75 at 1.98
